After the engineering data has been transformed into a representation of construction objects with intelligent attributes, ConstructSim Planner automatically generates a set of detailed construction work steps (or tasks) for a specified set of construction objects. The generation and representation of construction tasks facilitates the planning and quantity tracking of associated field labor down to the level of pipe spool, steel beam, instrument, electrical cable, etc.

Through a data processing module known as the Work Details Converter, ConstructSim Planner quantifies a specific set of project materials (inputs generally represented as a material take-off list) and matches the material take-off items with a corresponding input database of unit rates and rules of progress. ConstructSim Planner can then assign hours for labor estimates onto construction objects such as pipe spools, instruments, electrical cable, and steel beams, and generate a database of work steps with the associated hours spread across payment milestones for tracking execution progress on a project.
